Phoenix Band SUN GHOST Going for Unconventional Album Release

Sun Ghost (Phoenix, AZ)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sun Ghost Goes for an Unconventional Release of Sophomore Album, Glitter, Guns & Gold

We, Phoenix indie rock/pop group Sun Ghost, are opting to release "Side A" of our upcoming album during the month of June, available for purchase online by donation. "Side B" will be released in the later summer, using funds from the first release to complete the second. The album, titled Glitter, Guns & Gold, will be our second full-length recording as a band (preceded by 2011's Love, Hurt & Paradox).

Side A will consist of five songs - with a different song being featured each new week of June, through sunghost.com and the band's Facebook page. The songs will be available individually or as a group at sunghost.bandcamp.com starting June 1st - and the listener names their donation amount. The week-by-week feature of individual songs is being done as an attempt to connect more with the audience, to share more of an experience with each tune.

Factors leading to the split-album decision included the band's desire for a more "living ablum" - a kind of open-source, DIY approach to creating a finished product. Recognizing a growing sense of community not just among valley bands, but among our respective fans as well, we want to put some of the talent in town to work. And we won't lie - lack of money is a factor here, too. Sun Ghost would like to garner support from the community which would in turn enable us to release a high quality Side B in a timely manner.

This album incorporates a heavier, happier pop sound than the last, as well as a strong jazz influence. Sun Ghost has been compared by fans and reviewers to Elton John, Frank Zappa, Beach Boys and Cursive, among others.
